It’s something I’ve been pondering more and more in these recent months, during a season of being surrounded by amazingly inspiring, anointed men and women of God- and life-changing moves of God- like never before in my life. I’m hearing so much, being challenged and mentored and refined by so much, but so far feeling like I’m still seeing quite little of the Kingdom in my own day-to-day “normal” living. A holy hunger is steadily but surely building up, where I can’t be satisfied to remain a passive observer in my comforting little boat of familiarity any longer.
To provide a bit of an introduction, my name is Abby and I’m a brand new intern for a friend and mentor who is quickly becoming very dear to me, Donna McCabe! I can share more about my upbringing and personal journey in later posts, but Donna and I’s paths crossed and hearts connected during a weekend of nightly revival meetings in San Diego, a community that has made a tremendous impact on my life in a short but really special time. At these meetings Donna began sharing testimonies of her missions and ministry work, her life journey, her struggles and her incredible encounters with the Lord, His love and His power; I quickly realized this was a realm of intimacy and obedience and trust with Papa God that I had not yet known, and absolutely had to learn! Even though I hadn’t yet seen it in my life or the lives of those nearest and dearest to me, I believed there truly was so much more… so much more of the Father to know and abide in, so much more of His anointing to be walking in, and so much more of the Kingdom (and most importantly His affectionate love) to be ushering in around me!
If you can relate to that place of tension and anticipation- between what the Word says, Jesus exemplified and what you’ve heard time and again from others, vs what you’re experiencing in your own life- then I invite you to join me in this blog-documented adventure! It’s an adventure of pressing past our past and all its shortcomings and disappointments; pressing past what we’re always known and done; casting aside every reason we hear in our minds for why we aren’t closer with the Lord, or hearing Him more clearly, or obeying Him more, or having heavenly encounters, or seeing people healed and touched by His presence, and so on and so forth. Please join me in a journey of believing there really is so much more (that the Father is more than joyous to reveal)! Join me in rejecting the paralyzing fears and disqualifying accusations, and running after Him with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength!
I don’t yet know what this stepping-out looks like (and it’ll be a completely unique path the Lord wants to pave with each one of us) but the best starting point is simply a willing and faith-filled heart! Feel free to join me in this prayer (and then articulate one straight from your own heart)!: “Father God, I’m going to choose to seek Your face today, with a humbled, excited, grateful and expectant heart! I repent of my sinful and selfish ways, and ask you to cleanse me of all unrighteousness by the mighty blood of Jesus. Thank you for making me new Father, thank you for allowing me to sit in your lap and soak you in and learn your ways. Thank you for loving and rejoicing over me in the most precious and life-giving way. Thank you Papa that no voice of condemnation or shame is EVER of you; that you delight in mercy and grace, and see me for who you created me to be. Lord, I ask that you help me abide in you and commune with you in the most intimate and special way today. I receive your daily bread; I receive all that you have for me, and I ask that you flood me with your perfect, refining, purifying, healing love! I receive the fullness of your firey love Lord, so that I can let it flow right out of me into everyone I encounter! Holy Spirit please take control; help me to rest in you and trust your voice and see your unmatchable goodness, and please help me to walk in the authority and confidence and power I already have in you. Please give me eyes to see the wounded, the hurting, the weak, to see every single person as you do Father. I thank you so much for this beautiful day, your beautiful Presence and how you’re taking me deeper and deeper and deeper into your heart. I choose YOUR will Lord, your ways and your thoughts, and I say Kingdom of Heaven come right now into my life! In the amazing name of Jesus, amen!”
So here we go, Burning, Hungry and Trusting Children of God! With Jesus we CAN step out of what we’ve always known, into the great Spirit-led unknown, hand-in-hand with the victorious One. There’s no better place to be!
